Give your Dog the Best Training and Smoothly
Training methods today have no place for harsh punishments and losing temper. Fortunately, for the last few decades, canine psychology and behavior is being given more importance and based on such aspects, dog training is now about loads of patience and positive reinforcements. Is a food reward always necessary?
To answer that question you must first decide if your dog is food-motivated. If he is, and you want him to have some obedience training
(sit, stay, and come), then get yourself a bag of dog treats and start learning the best ways to train.
When to give your dog a treat ?
Once you have trained the dog to come to you, if you vary the delivery of the reward either by giving a treat for instance every third time, or randomly, it will actually increase the probability that your dog will come to you consistently. This is termed partial reinforcement and dramatically decreases the likelihood that your dog will forget the correct behavior when you really need him to respond, even if he doesn’t smell a treat in your hand. What is the best treat to choose when training ?
When you use treats to help in training your dog, choose a small treat. Whether it’s crunchy, meaty, or sweet is completely up to you and your dog. Just be sure that your dog likes the treat and can quickly consume it. If he has to work at eating the treat, he may be distracted from the task you want him to perform.
Dog Obedience Training for Biting
Just as you teach appropriate behavior to your children, dogs also need to be trained to behave in an acceptable manner. The difference, however, is the age at which the training is most effective. While a one- year-old human baby can hardly be expected to learn more than toilet training, a year-old dog is considered to be a teenager. That means dog training should start as soon as he opens up his eyes and starts to recognize the members of what he will later consider as his ‘pack’.
Most dogs and puppies are lovable, affectionate, and sweet. At the same time, puppies love to play and bite each other all the time. If they spend enough time in the litter, they learn to control themselves, ensured by the reaction of other dogs in the litter. It is experience that teaches them what is acceptable and what is not.
Dog Obedience Training
It is best to do dog obedience training after you and your dog have had a chance to bond. Obedience training doesn’t solve all behavior problems, but it is the foundation for solving just about any problem.
Training a dog to obey your commands can be an ongoing and lengthy process depending on the dog, the methods used, and the skill and understanding of both the pet and its owner. A dog that has received proper obedience training should be able to respond and comply with every command given by his owner.
